Sister Mary De Angelis, 92, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Saint Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, Morristown, N J.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown, New Jersey, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 4 p.m. by Rev. John Rossi, Director of Catholic Identity, at Paul VI High School in the Diocese of Camden. Interment will take place following the liturgy at Ave Maria Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Doyle Funeral Home, Morristown, N J.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Sister Mary entered the Religious Teachers Filippini on July 3, 1932. She received the religious habit on August 29, 1937 and her religious profession on September 1, 1940.
Sister Mary was awarded a BS degree in Elementary Education and a MA degree in General Professional Education both from Seton Hall University.
Sister Mary taught in the elementary schools in the Dioceses of Trenton, Newark, Camden, Pittsburgh, PA, Providence, RI, Scranton, PA, and taught Junior High in her last ten years of teaching (1991 – 2001) at Villa Walsh Academy in Morristown, NJ.
Sister Mary was principal In the following schools: Our Lady of Mount Virgin, Garfield, NJ (1954 – 1966); Our Lady Queen of Peace, Maywood, NJ (1969-1975); Saint Nicholas of Tolentine, Philadelphia, PA (1978 – 1980); Saint Peter, Merchantville, NJ 1980 – 1988; Villa Victoria Academy, Trenton, 1988 – 1991. Sister Mary was an excellent teacher and dedicated principal. She not only formed children, but also mentored teachers. When Sister Mary retired from teaching in 2001 she assisted in the Finance Office and as telephone operator at Villa Walsh. In 2010 Sister Mary became a resident of St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ.
Sister Mary is survived by her sister, Gina Czyechowicz, brother John De Angelis and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents John De Angelis and Nazzarena (Carminucci), and her sisters Ann Testani, and Amelia Ford; brothers James, George and Frank De Angelis .
