Angela Alvarez of West Grove has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Business Advisory Board of Immaculata University’s Business and Accounting Department.
The Immaculata sophomore was an active member of her Avon Grove High School’s Humanitarian Club and the Leo Club, a service club sponsored by the Avon Grove Lions Club.
As a business management/marketing management major, Alvarez is excited to pursue a career that motivates people since she enjoys working with the public. She also is interested in advocating for women’s rights.
“I am still in shock from receiving the award,” she said. “It’s one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me.”
“Angela demonstrated drive, energy and a very positive approach,” said Charlene Fitzwater, chair of the Business and Accounting Department. “She provided a compelling application letter, engaging interview and effective articulation of her need for the scholarship.”
The Immaculata Business Advisory Board consists of business professionals from surrounding communities; they provided the sole funding for the scholarship.
