The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is partnering with the University of Notre Dame’s “Play Like a Champion Today, Character Education Through Sports” program. This partnership is part of a national initiative to support schools and sports organizations in making sports safer, more fun and developmentally enriching.
The archdiocesan CYO hosted a youth coach clinic on March 28 for approximately 75 new CYO coaches conducted by Kristin Sheehan, director of the Play Like a Champion program, and Matt Hasher, director of CYO Athletics for the archdiocese.
CYO will host Play Like a Champion clinics approximately four times per year. The CYO offers participation in 12 fall, winter and spring sports for approximately 3,000 children per sport across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Approximately 500 new CYO coaches are oriented each year.
