The archdiocesan Office of Catholic Education (OCE) announced July 24 that Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez has appointed William D. Gennaro Jr. the next president of Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor, effective July 27.

Gennaro has served as principal of Archbishop Carroll for five and half years. Since 2012, he has served as a classroom educator, department chair, assistant principal for student services, and assistant principal for academic affairs.

He also founded the boys’ and girls’ rowing program at the school.

Gennaro earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and general business studies from Temple University, a master’s in educational leadership from St. Joseph’s University and a certification in secondary education English from West Chester University.

Most recently he was a member of the inaugural cohort of the archdiocesan Rising Stars Leadership Academy.

He succeeds Patricia Scott, who departed service as president of Archbishop Carroll to pursue other professional opportunities.

In a letter to school families, OCE’s Chief Operating Officer Jay DeFruscio extended prayerful congratulations to Gennaro in his new role.

DeFruscio also expressed gratitude to the parents of Archbishop Carroll’s students “for the sacrifices you make to provide the gift of a Catholic education for your sons and daughters and for your ongoing support” of the school.
