Immaculata University President Barbara Lettiere announced she will retire July 1, 2027, after 10 years leading the Catholic university.
Lettiere informed the Board of Trustees of her decision July 1, 2026, allowing time for a national search and leadership transition.
“The time has come in my life and the life of Immaculata for the next chapter,” Lettiere said in a statement.
During her tenure, Immaculata secured reaffirmation of accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and revamped academic programs to better prepare students for careers.
In a joint statement, Board Chair Peggy Behm and Sister Mary Ellen Tennity, IHM, general superior of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, praised Lettiere’s leadership and service, saying she made a “lasting and meaningful impact” on the university community.
The Board of Trustees will begin a national search for Immaculata’s next president. Lettiere said she plans to remain focused on the university’s work through the end of her term.
“Over the next year, there is much work to be done, and I intend to see it all through,” she said.
