Sister Elizabeth Mercer, S.S.J., age 91, died July 26 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown.
Daughter of the late Maurice Mercer and Amelia Savoy Mercer, she attended Holy Savior Grade School in Linwood and Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Delaware County.
She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph Chestnut Hill in September 1945 and professed final vows in August 1953.
Sister Elizabeth ministered in the archdioceses of Philadelphia, Newark, Baltimore, and Washington and the dioceses of Allentown, Camden, and Trenton.
She is survived by a loving family and members of her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph. Religious, relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Tuesday, July 31, followed by the funeral Mass at St. Joseph Villa.
