(formerly Sister Assumpta Maria), age 87, died March 3 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown.

The daughter of the late Edward and Mary Russell, she attended Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, New Jersey.

In September 1950 she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1958.

Sister Eileen ministered in the Archdioceses of Newark, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

The sister of the late Mary R. Cicero, she is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Newbury and Ann K. Russell. She is also survived by many nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews and her Congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph. 

The funeral Mass was celebrated March 9 at St. Joseph Villa.
