In contrast to other writings of the first century, the Gospels contain a significant number of stories about women. Jesus affirms and includes women consistently in each of the gospels. He invites them into discipleship, offers them healing and redemption and relies on them for personal support and evangelization. They in turn demonstrate a commitment to Jesus despite the risks of social exclusion, arrest and death.
Each week we will look at a different Gospel to reflect on its particular stories about women. Each week will stand independent of the others; attendance at all four sessions is not needed. Explore Jesus’ revolutionary inclusion of women and what it means that he continues to offer it today.
June 18 – Mark
June 25 – Matthew
July 2 – Luke
July 9 – John
