Sister Lauretta (Laura) Matusik, C.S.F.N., died Jan. 1 at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 98 and in the 69th year of religious life.
Born in Jamaica, N.Y., she entered the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in 1952 and professed final vows in 1960. She was a member of the first graduating class at Holy Family College (now Holy Family University), graduating with a B.A. in 1958. She went on to earn an M.A. at Marywood College in 1968.
Sister Lauretta served as a teacher at Nazareth Academy High School in Philadelphia for 42 years. She retired in 1997. She went on to serve as the receptionist at the provincial offices until 2007 when she moved to Mount Nazareth.
