Young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to Malvern Retreat House for a weekend retreat to usher in the New Year beginning 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 through noon Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. This New Year’s Retreat will be led by Father Emmanuel Mansford and Brother Samuel Thomas of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.
The theme for the weekend will focus on the Incarnation as God’s “yes” to a broken and fallen humanity and Mary’s assent to become the Mother of God. The response and “fiat” of Mary to the Father’s will is a model for all of us in our call to welcome and allow the Word of God to become incarnate in our own lives.
The weekend will include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the celebration of Holy Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, an opportunity for confession and spiritual direction, free time to fellowship and enjoy the winter quiet and beauty of the retreat grounds, a nighttime bonfire and New Year’s social, and more.
Young adults can become renewed in faith, giving thanks for the blessings of this year and welcome the new year with a listening heart, open to God’s grace and in company with Mary, as we strive to give our wholehearted and unreserved yes to Jesus Christ.
