Reverend Dominic M. Chiaravalle, Pastor Emeritus, Old Saint Mary’s Parish, Philadelphia died on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
Father Chiaravalle was born on August 1, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Sabatino Chiaravalle and Lena Fioravanti. Father Chiaravalle attended Saint Mary of the Eternal Parochial School, Philadelphia and Roman Catholic High School for Boys, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Chiaravalle was ordained on May 22, 1965, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Chiaravalle served as Parochial Vicar, Holy Spirit Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Paul Parish, Philadelphia; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Philadelphia, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Doylestown, Saint Donato Parish, Philadelphia, and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Strafford.
He also served as Pastor, Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, Philadelphia, from 1988-2004. In 2004 he was appointed Pastor, Old Saint Mary’s Parish, Philadelphia, and named Pastor Emeritus, there in 2008. He served as Senior Priest, Saint Cornelius Parish, Chadds Ford, from 2008-2012 before officially retiring.
The Reception of cremated remains will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Philadelphia on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 9:45 AM., followed by a visitation. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Martin Cioppi, Reverend Edward J. Casey, Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Sullivan, and Reverend Philip J. Lowe, will be the homilist.
Father Chiaravalle is survived by his sisters Jane ( Richard), Siville, and Antoinette (Eugene) Motte, and several nieces, and nephews. Interment will be at Saint Matthew Cemetery in Conshocken.
