Students and staff at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School in Collegeville recently enjoyed a surprise visit from the Phillies’ Phanatic in recognition of their efforts to help our neighbors in need.
The Montgomery county school recently partnered with non-profit organization The Giving Tree located in Gwynedd Valley to provide “Full Belly Bags” to families experiencing food insecurity.
Holy Cross Regional compiled 944 bags that were distributed to those in need — the most of any participating school.
“More importantly our students continue to live out our mission and participate in hands-on service projects to help our local community in need,” the school wrote on Facebook.
In partnership with Giant Food Stores, the Giving Tree challenged several local schools to prepare the bags which included a full day’s worth of food.
