The Newman Center at Drexel University will celebrate its 100 year history with a weekend long celebration May 5-7, 2023.

The celebration kicks-off Friday, May 5 with Mass in the Newman Chapel followed by dinner and  keynote speaker Mark Bartek of FOCUS who will present on the Importance of Newman Ministry in the Church’s Mission.” Following the presentation, all are invited to a beer garden in the Newman Courtyard.

The celebration will continue on Saturday, May 6 with Mass at 9:00 a.m. in the Newman Chapel followed by breakfast and an open house; keynote speaker and Catholic speaker, author, blogger Rachel Bulman will also speak on “Mission to the Margins with St Katharine Drexel.”

The day will continue with lunch; a Chaplains Panel: Reality of Campus Ministry Today; and an Alumni Panel: Fruits of Encountering God at Newman.

The day will conclude with a Gala set for 6:00 p.m. at the St. John Neumann Center.  Bishop Joseph L. Coffey, a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia serving as an active military chaplain with the U.S. Navy since 2001, will be the evening’s keynote speaker.

On Sunday, May 7, Archbishop Pérez will conclude the weekend-long celebration by celebrating Mass at St. Agatha-St. James Church at 11:30 a.m. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held.
