“Our hearts are with communities distressed by the gun violence in West Philly today, during a time of celebration marking the conclusion of Ramadan.
Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia holds in our thoughts and prayers every person injured and impacted by the disruption. We share the pain and extend gratitude to all community members and professionals who served as first responders, healers, and peacemakers.
We stand committed to building peace, fostering understanding, and making the spaces we gather whether to work, worship, play, or learn safe, neighborly, and supported.
May the people of our city stay encouraged and hold hope and belief that together we can restore, rebuild, and renew our community.”
Co-Conveners, Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia:
Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez, D.D, Archdiocese of Philadelphia
Bishop Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez, The Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania
