Eileen Keefe has joined the archdiocesan Office for General Counsel as Senior Deputy General Counsel, the archdiocese announced Oct. 15. Her appointment is effective immediately.
The office, led by General Counsel Suzanne Hueston, represents and supervises legal representation of the Archdiocese in all legal matters.
The General Counsel serves as legal counsel to the Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishops, Senior Staff, Boards, Councils, Committees and Offices of the Archdiocese as well as Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, and provides legal services to parishes and other entities throughout the Archdiocese.
Keefe joins Maribeth Boyle, also serving as Senior Deputy General Counsel, in the office.
Most recently Keefe served as principal with the law firm Jackson Lewis in Philadelphia. She brings two decades of professional experience as a lawyer with four firms in the region, specializing in employment law and liability litigation.
Keefe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University as a political science major with a concentration on Peace and Justice Studies. She then went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law.
After completing her undergraduate studies Keefe spent a year serving with Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Baltimore, Maryland offering legal assistance to low-income homeowners.
Keefe lives in Swarthmore with her husband Dan and their three children Patrick, Virginia, and Clare. She is a member of Saint John Chrysostom Parish in Wallingford, Delaware County.
