Steve Honick

Archbishop Carrol High School has named Steve Honick, class of 2017, as the school’s new head football coach. He was a star quarterback for the Patriots from 2013-2016, holding a place in Carroll’s record books for passing yards in a season.

Honick went on to play quarterback at Ursinus College. After moving on toto West Chester University, he served first as a student assistant and then as graduate assistant quarterback coach. Most recently, he served as a linebackers assistant coach at Temple University.

“I am excited to welcome Steve back home to Archbishop Carroll,”  said Bill Gennaro, principal. “The experience he will bring from his time at Ursinus, West Chester, Temple, and of course, as a student athlete at Carroll, is going to push our players to be the best representatives of the school they can be, both on and off the field.”

In accepting the position,  Honick said, “This is going to take all of us — players, coaches, alumni, students, fans, and the entire Carroll community. This program has everything it needs to be great, and I’m excited to lead us there. Together, we’re going to build something special.”

“We are thrilled to have such a passionate Carroll alum at the helm of this team,” Athletic Director Thomas Quintois said. “Steve has the drive to build this program up to the highest level and we know that the entire Carroll community will rally behind him.”

Honick takes over for Coach Derian Quick, who has been with Carroll football since 2015 and has served as head football coach since 2023. Honick will be Carroll’s sixth alumni head football coach since the program’s start in 1953.
