“Dear Friends in the Jewish Faith Community,

Together with the people of the Catholic Church of Philadelphia, I extend warm greetings as you celebrate the holy days of Passover.

In these times of domestic uncertainty and ongoing violence abroad, particularly in the Holy Land, the eight-day commemoration of Pesach is a powerful reminder of the Almighty’s mercy. May this commemoration of the Israelites’ release from slavery in ancient Egypt provide renewed hope for people of faith in the Philadelphia region and around the world.

In the words of Pope Francis, “May the Almighty bless and accompany the journey of the beloved Jewish people. May the Most High allow us to grow ever more in friendship and to be witnesses of peace and harmony.”

I pray that your celebration of Passover will bring renewed hope, peace of heart, and an abundance of blessings.”

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.
