The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul will host a Novena to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus from June 3-11 in preparation for the national consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the 250th anniversary year of the nation’s founding.
The nine-day novena will draw from daily devotions in the Litany of the Sacred Heart and feature reflections from saints and pontiffs on the Sacred Heart, along with opportunities for prayer and action. The devotional materials are framed by Pope Francis’ encyclical Dilexit Nos (“He Loved Us”) and Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic exhortation Dilexit Te (“I Have Loved You”).
The novena will conclude with the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Promotional materials for the event describe the observance as “250 years of love and mercy.”
