
Monsignor Joseph A. Tracy
Reverend Monsignor Joseph A. Tracy Parochial Vicar with Senior Priest Status, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Monsignor Tracy was born on May 15, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Stephen X. Tracy and the late Mary C. Walker. Monsignor Tracy attended Saint William Grade School, Philadelphia, and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Tracy was ordained on May 16, 1992, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua. He was named Chaplain to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on March 16, 2005. Monsignor Tracy served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Andrew Parish, Newtown. He was a student priest, at Academia Alfonsiana in Rome from 1996-2000. Monsignor Tracy served as Deputy Secretary, Secretariat for Catholic Human Services from 2000-2004, and Secretary for Catholic Human Services, from 2004-2008. He served as Pastor, Saint Stanislaus Parish, Lansdale, from 2008-2019. He served as Parochial Vicar with Senior Priest Status, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton, since 2019.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Stanislaus Church, Lansdale, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 8:30 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Timothy J. Buckley, Reverend John P. Hutter, Reverend Joseph G. Watson, and Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will be the homilist.
Monsignor Tracy is survived by his brothers, Timothy and Stephen.
Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
