The Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education (OCE) announced July 31 that Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez has appointed James D. Meredith as the next president of Father Judge High School, effective Aug. 17.

A member of Father Judge’s Class of 1992, Meredith brings more than 30 years of experience in Catholic education, including more than 20 years in leadership roles.

He currently serves as principal of Lansdale Catholic High School, a position he has held since 2023. Previously, he was principal of Nazareth Academy High School and served in several archdiocesan leadership positions, including assistant superintendent for secondary schools. He also held administrative roles at Pope John Paul II High School and Archbishop Ryan High School.

Meredith earned a bachelor’s degree in politics from DeSales University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Cabrini University.

He succeeds Brian Patrick King, who earlier this year was appointed Director of Strategic Initiatives for Secondary Schools and Schools of Special Education in the archdiocesan central office.

In a letter to school families, OCE Chief Operating Officer Jay DeFruscio thanked Oblate Father Joseph Campellone, who served as interim president during the transition, and expressed confidence that Meredith’s leadership will continue Father Judge’s mission in the Salesian tradition of St. Francis de Sales.
