Sister Therese Michelle Destefano, SSJ
Sister Therese Michelle Destefano SSJ, age 83, died on August 7, 2026, at Saint Joseph Villa.
The daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Destefano (nee Scavo), she attended West Pittston Grade School and Archbishop Prendergast High School.
In September 1960 she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1968.
Sister Therese ministered in the dioceses of Allentown, Camden, Newark and Philadelphia.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Snyder, and nephew, Michael Snyder. She is survived by her nephew, Bill Snyder, many loving cousins and by members of her Congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia.
Family and friends are invited to St. Joseph Villa beginning at 9:30 AM on Friday August 21, 2026. A Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Services will be live-streamed from the Saint Joseph Villa website www.stjosephvilla.org.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister’s name to Saint Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031.
