Bill McCann has been named to the board of the Xavier Society for the Blind.

Bill McCann, a parishioner of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Wayne and an alumnus of St. Lucy School for the Blind in Philadelphia, has joined the board of directors of Xavier Society for the Blind.

A longtime patron of Xavier Society’s braille services, McCann is the founder of Dancing Dots, a company that develops technology to help blind and visually impaired musicians read, write, and record music.

After attending St. Lucy School for the Blind, he graduated cum laude from Philadelphia’s University of the Arts in 1980 and later earned a certificate in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Information Resources.

A trumpet player, music educator, and advocate for literacy, independence, and inclusion for people with visual impairments, McCann has spoken at UNESCO in Paris and demonstrated his company’s software at the White House. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Xavier Society for the Blind provides free braille, audio, and large-print Catholic materials to those who are blind or visually impaired, including Scripture, faith formation resources ,and Mass readings.
