Students pause to show the result of their collection of donations for Thanksgiving meals, before heading out on the road to deliver the gifts.
Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford delivered 107 full Thanksgiving meals on Tuesday, Nov. 24 — including turkey, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, stuffing and a pie — to needy families throughout Montgomery County and beyond.
The project saw PJP students raise $5,686 for the initiative. Before heading out Tuesday morning to make deliveries personally, the students began with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the school chapel.
The parishes and organizations receiving the meals include: St. Mary Parish, Schwenksville (St. Vincent DePaul Program); St. Aloysius Parish, Pottstown; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bridgeport; St. Patrick Parish, Norristown; Catholic Social Services, Norristown (see more about this program); St. Gabriel Parish, Stowe; St. Vincent De Paul Society, Royersford, St. Columbkill Parish, Boyertown; St. Philip Neri Parish, Lafayette Hill; and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Norristown.
