St. John the Evangelist Parish in center city Philadelphia will hold its annual Via Crucis (the Way of the Cross) devotion on Good Friday, March 30 from 3 to 4 p.m.
The service will be in the upper church of St. John’s, located at 21 South 13th Street in Philadelphia.
Directed by Dr. Annette DiMedio and staged by Pearl Schaeffer, Via Crucis is a musical score by composer Franz Liszt depicting the Stations of the Cross. Each station will be recreated with narration, prayer and movement by St. John the Evangelist clergy and staff as well as University of the Arts students, faculty and alumni volunteers.
Via Crucis is open to the public and a free-will offering will be taken up in support of the parish’s music ministries.
