An upcoming weekend retreat will focus on how active ministry can draw on the wisdom of mystics.
Barbara Hughes, author of “Ministry and the Mystical Path,” will lead the conference, which will take place Nov. 9-11 at the Mother Boniface Spirituality Center in Northeast Philadelphia.
Hughes has written more than 600 articles on spiritual life based on decades of pastoral experience at both parish and diocesan levels. She currently authors a daily column on spirituality entitled “In Light of Faith,” which has appeared in The Catholic Virginian since 2000. A secular Carmelite, wife, mother of 5 children and a grandmother, she continues to lecture on spirituality, contemplative prayer and inter-religious dialogue.
Novices, veterans, professionals and volunteers, whether lay, ordained or religious, are all welcome.
The retreat will begin on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. and end on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. The overnight fee is $170, which includes a $40 non-refundable deposit. The commuter fee is $85, which includes a $25 non-refundable deposit. The deadline for registration is Oct. 31, 2018.
