Event Description
Our Lady of the Assumption Church cordially invites you to visit their
church during Lent of this year to view the pilgrim Statue of the
Scourged Christ. This compelling life-sized Statue has mass appeal,
drawing thousands of visitors to gaze upon its graphic representation
of the suffering of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
To some observers, the Statue is somewhat unsettling, but to most, it
is a fascinating and deeply moving work of art, an awesome sight to
behold. Long before Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” ever hit
the movie screens this statue was bringing the reality of what Christ
must have suffered into the conscious minds of the thousands of people
who looked upon it!
The Statue of the Scourged Christ will remain at Our Lady of the
Assumption Church throughout Lent. All are welcome to visit our parish
to see this impressive image.
