There’s a new mascot on the campus of Holy Family University.
Blue, who was introduced Dec. 3 to the student body, really stood out at a “white out” home double header for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Hailing from Northeast Philadelphia, Blue joins an all-star roster of his mascot peers in the City as a fan of hoagies, soft pretzels, and really loud music!
“At age 32, and with two degrees under its belt, it was time for the Tiger to join our very active alumni association,” said Sister Maureen McGarrity, president of Holy Family University. “We appreciate his past and future service and we’re very proud to introduce Blue — a contemporary of our students, who loves rowdy fans and watching Holy Family athletes play all sports.”
With a surprise introduction during half time of the women’s basketball game, HFU Tigers fans got their first look at Blue. During half time of the men’s basketball game, he was introduced to Holy Family University alumni who have proudly sported the Tiger mascot costume over the years.
The Holy Family community will get to know Blue and all his interests, including grabbing a quick bite at the Cub Café, appreciating a strong cheer formation, slam dunks and athletes with steel nerves, something the university is known for.
When reached before the game, Blue said he’s a true “people tiger,” and that above all else, he can’t wait to mix and mingle with the crowds at the games and help them get loud!
He plans to be very involved on campus, and is looking forward to championship seasons for all of Holy Family’s athletic teams.
