Showing local support for the 50th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., staff at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center lit luminaries Jan. 19 in remembrance of lives lost to abortion.
Sponsored by Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, 50 luminaries will remain lit overnight as an expression of local solidarity with all those attending the annual March Jan 20. in our nation’s Capital.
Tomorrow, a delegation of approximately 3,000 individuals from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will take part in the march to promote respect for all human life from conception to natural death.
This year’s delegation includes strong representation from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary as well as Archdiocesan parishes and schools from throughout the five-county region.
The day will begin with an opening Mass celebrated by Philadelphia Auxiliary Bishop John J. McIntyre for Philadelphia Archdiocese’s pilgrims. He will be joined by Most Reverend Bruce Lewandowski, Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore, who will be the principal homilist. Students from Bishop Shanahan High School will provide the liturgical music.
The March for Life 2023 Rally will take place at 12:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Washington Monument.
Following the Mass, participants from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will gather on the corner of Constitution Avenue and 6th Street in front of the National Gallery of Art and begin the march at approximately 1:00 p.m.
