Sister Edna Naomi Maier

Sister Edna Naomi Maier, Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 67 years, entered eternal life on Jan. 25, 2023 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester, MA at the age of 85.

Sister Edna was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 22, 1937, to Henry and Florence (Roder) Maier and is the sister of the late Henry and wife Joan Maier and their son, John. She is survived by her sister, Florence Maier, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, brother Conrad and wife Mary Maier, and is survived by nieces and nephews: Kathleen, Theresa, Joanne, Barbara, Donna, Kevin, Eileen, Michael, Daniel, Maureen, Katie, Margaret.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on August 14, 1955, made her first vows January 26, 1958, and final vows on August 4, 1963.

During her 67 years in religious life, Sr. Edna devoted her life to bringing her energizing love of God and the message of His goodness to those she ministered to in education which included teacher, RCIA Coordinator, Retreat Director, Family Missions Ministry, and ESOL volunteer at CCBC in Baltimore County. As a preacher, Sister was a Pastoral and Parochial Coordinator.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Arbutus, MD, followed by private interment at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur’s cemetery at Ilchester, MD.
