Retired Deacon Frederick C. Druding

Retired Deacon Frederick C. Druding passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 82. Deacon Druding was born on May 2, 1941 to the late Thomas and Catherine (nee: Bennett) Druding. He was a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia, and a graduate of South Philadelphia High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and served for six years. Fred attended college at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated on the Dean’s List. Professionally he worked most of his career with the securities firm Kidder, Peabody & Company.

He was ordained on June 2, 2007, by His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. He was assigned to Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, Philadelphia, where he remained until his retirement in 2016. Between June of 2016, and until his death, Deacon Druding served on the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Nurses.

Deacon Druding is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane (nee: Roache) Druding, his sons Frederick Jr. and Kevin; three grandchildren; and his brother Thomas Druding.

Reception of the Body and a viewing will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 3rd and Wolf Streets, Philadelphia. The principal celebrant and homilist will be Reverend John J. Pidgeon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
