Deacon Joseph T. Owen died on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the age of 75.
Deacon earned a Bachelor of Science degree from LaSalle University in 1979. In 2011, he earned a Master of Arts degree in theology, also from LaSalle University. During his working career, Deacon Owen was employed as a Director of Human Resources for various companies.
On June 9, 2022, Deacon Owen was ordained at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul by His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua. He was assigned to Saint Cyril of Jerusalem Parish, Jamison, where he remained. Deacon Owen was also very active in the Charismatic Prayer Movement.
Deacon Owen was married for 50 years to Joanne (nee Connaughton). They had three children: Joseph J. Owen; Joanne T. Fields; and Jaclyn Issel. In addition, Deacon Owen had six grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings: Sister Janice Owen, IHM; Theresa Peterson; Michael Owen; Christopher Owen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, beginning at 10:15 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint Cyril of Jerusalem Parish, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison. The principal celebrant and homilist will be Reverend Monsignor Robert T. Powell, and the Deacon of the Mass will be Deacon Alvin Clay. Interment will be at Saint John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
