Roman Catholic High School’s Mock Trial Team won the Pennsylvania State Championship on March 29 in Harrisburg, capping an undefeated season. The championship round was held March 28 in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and was presided over by Justice Daniel D. McCaffrey.
Competing as the defense in a medical malpractice case, Roman Catholic defeated Nazareth Area High School to secure the state title. The victory adds to a 2026 campaign under coaches Steven Patton ’08 and John Pensabene, which included perfect records in regional, invitational, and state competitions, as well as a world championship title in Chicago in 2025.
Led by team captain Oliver Sheaffer, the championship roster included attorneys Nicholas Conway, Justin DiSilvestro, Tiese Giles, Ross McCullough, and Sabree Hines, and witnesses Anthony Cirano, Jehoiakim Gabriel, Leif Hoppel, Joseph Kozarski, and Sheaffer.
Roman Catholic will represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the National High School Mock Trial Tournament in May in Des Moines, Iowa.
