The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has welcomed five new missionaries from Culture Project International who will spend the coming year working with young people throughout the five-county region.
The missionaries are Bernie Senger IV, Laura Hilkert, Jenna Espiritu, Carlos Hernandez and Sabrina Vizurraga. They will serve in schools, parishes and PREP programs, presenting to middle school and high school students and young adults on human dignity, virtue, authentic love and the value of living chastely.
The Culture Project, founded in 2014 by Cristina Barba Whalen, is an initiative of young adults seeking to restore culture through the experience of virtue. Its missionary program is rooted in Catholic social teaching and the teachings of St. John Paul II, particularly his Theology of the Body.
Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez approved the establishment of an official Culture Project chapter in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2021. Since then, missionary teams have served young people across the archdiocese through classroom presentations and other programs.
The five new missionaries will build on the work of previous teams while helping young people recognize the dignity of every human person and the freedom and beauty of a life rooted in virtue and authentic love.
