Sister Alice Christine Hanley, S.S.J., (formerly Joanne Elizabeth Hanley), died April 12 at age 88 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown.
Daughter of the late George and Alice Hanley, she was born in Wilmington, Del. and attended Christ Our King Grade School in Wilmington and Ursuline Academy High School. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in September 1947 and professed her final vows in August 1955.
Sister Alice ministered in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore, and the dioceses of Allentown, Camden and Wilmington.
She is the sister of Alice Breger (Dan), the late twin sister Mary, aunt of Christine O’Donnell (Jim), Maureen Baron (John) and Sean Kelleher (Laura). She is survived by great-nieces and nephews and members of her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
The funeral Mass was celebrated April 16 at St. Joseph Villa.
