Your words could make a world of difference to a man in the state prison in Chester. Please write a letter of encouragement to a person in SCI Chester. We will be collecting the letters in January and February and sending them to 1,000 men, who because of COVID are most likely lonely and in need of comforting words. These letters of encouragement will go a long way to lift their spirits.
Keep the letter sincere and simply stated, something like, “We are thinking of you and hope you are doing as well as possible. We are with you in spirit and wish you peace, hope and love.” You may also want to include a favorite poem, inspirational quote, or devotion.
The idea is to inspire, encourage and challenge the men. Please no stickers or glitter. It is also important that you do not include any personal information, including your full name, information about your family or even the name of your church. The letter should be focused on the person who is receiving it. It is our prayer that when the letters are distributed, the Holy Spirit will guide who gets each letter personally.
Please mail your letter to: Cards 4 Chester, PO Box 204, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Note that all letters will be opened and placed in a plain envelope so no return addresses will be sent to the men.
Thank you for your warm words with this simple yet powerful outreach. Jesus says that to encourage one another, “visit” the imprisoned, and what we do for the others, we do for him. From the comfort of your home, you can do so much for others in need.
