Sister Regina Immaculata Monaghan, S.S.J. (formerly Leanore Marie Monaghan), age 86, died May 12 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown.
The daughter of the late Joanna and Charles Monaghan, she attended St. Andrew Grade School in Drexel Hill and Upper Darby High School.
In September 1953 she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, and professed her final vows in 1961.
Sister Regina ministered in the archdioceses of Philadelphia and Washington and the dioceses of Allentown, Camden and Wilmington.
The sister of the late Joan DeJoseph, she is survived by nieces Nancy Forest (Robert) and Denise Parkanyi (Robert); nephew Charles DeJoseph (Tiene) as well as nieces and nephews Michael, Christopher, Andrew, Gina and Lisa. She is also survived by members of her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Funeral services were held privately May 21 at St. Joseph Villa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sister Regina’s name to Saint Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Avenue, Flourtown, PA 19031.
