Father David Friel (right), director of the archdiocesan Office for Vocations to Diocesan Priesthood, leads benediction at the end of a holy hour for vocations Jan. 5 at St. Ignatius Parish, Yardley.

The archdiocesan Vocation Office began the New Year asking for God’s blessings through holy-hour prayers before the Most Blessed Sacrament at two local parishes on the feast of St. John Neumann, Jan. 5.

St. Timothy Parish in Philadelphia’s Mayfair section and St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish in Yardley welcomed Father David Friel, director of the office, and several seminarians studying for the Philadelphia Archdiocese as they prayed for an increase in vocations and led all in the prayer of St. John: “Dearest God, give me holiness.”

The holy hours also included a Litany for Vocations, which people can add to their own devotions.
