John M. Dougherty
John M. Dougherty died on Dec. 29, 2008, after a battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). He was 72. He was born in West Philadelphia and graduated from St. Thomas More High School in 1954. He was one of the founders of the St. Thomas High School Alumni Association. After high school, he was employed by TV Guide magazine for 45 years, working his way up from mailroom to circulation credit manager. After retiring in 1999, he worked as the human resources manager and director for Kamco Building Supply in Chichester until June 2008. He gave his energy and talents to many friends and organizations over the years and was truly gifted with an enthusiasm for life. Nothing made him happier than spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Duddy Dougherty and his wife, Joan F. Loftus Dougherty. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment followed at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen, Donna, Eileen and Patty; his son, John; seven grandchildren; his companion, Barbara; his brothers, Joseph and Charles; his sister-in-law, Adele; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sister Mary Hickey, S.B.S.
Sister Mary Hickey, formerly Mary Hickey, died on Dec. 30, 2008. She was 92. She was born in Clogheen County, Tipperary, Ireland. She spent 72 years as a Sister of the Blessed Sacrament. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 8, 2009, at the motherhouse, Bensalem. Interment followed.
Sister Mary Celine Fanning, S.B.S.
Sister Mary Celine Fanning, formerly Mary Celine, died Dec. 31, 2008. She was 93. She was born in Moneygall County, Tipperary, Ireland. She spent 74 years as a Sister of the Blessed Sacrament. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 13, 2009, at the motherhouse, Bensalem. Interment followed. She is survived by her brother, Brother Ned Fanning.
