Since 1996, the Mary Mother of Captives ministry has been serving the needs of incarcerated individuals and their families throughout the Philadelphia area.
Currently the family support group for those with a loved one in prison meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church Hall, 422 Dennison Avenue in Drexel Hill. All are welcome to attend, to come listen, talk and share. For more information call John or Sue at 610-259-3178 or you can email at marymotherofcaptives@augustinian.org.
If you know someone who is about to be released or has been recently released from prison, Mary Mother of Captives has a transition group meeting on the first Thursday of each month at St. Cyprian Church Hall, 525 S. 63rd Street in Philadelphia. Call John at 610-259-3178 for more information or email marymotherofcaptives@augustinian.org.
Interested in being a pen pal to an incarcerated inmate? Mary Mother of Captives’ Pen Pal Program, which started as an outgrowth of the support meetings, now writes to more than 900 inmates in more than 235 state and federal prisons. In many cases, the letters received are the only contact that person has with the outside world. Total anonymity is guaranteed. For more information contact John at 610-259-3178 or email marymotherofcaptives@augustinian.org.
To know more about any of these three groups, call John or Sue at 610-259-3178 or email marymotherofcaptives@augustinian.org.
