Today is the 14th anniversary of the canonization of St. Katharine Drexel. She is well known for charity to oppressed people in America, but she also helped needy local families during the Great Depression, as one member of that family remembers today.

Philadelphia priest named monsignor by Pope Francis

Father Gregory J. Fairbanks, ordained a priest for the Philadelphia Archdiocese in 1990, was named a Chaplain of His Holiness by Pope Francis. Msgr. Fairbanks works at the Vatican as an official of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
